Edit or Delete a Challenge

Once a challenge has been created, it can be edited or deactivated at any point. However, some fields become locked once the challenge has been activated and customers have started participating.

Editing a Challenge

Go to Gamified Campaigns β†’ Challenges, then click the Edit Challenge button on the left side of the row for the challenge you want to update.

Editable fields depend on the challenge state

Challenge not yet active (no participants yet)

All fields are editable.

Challenge already active (attribute calculated or customers participating)

To protect the integrity of ongoing progress, the following fields are locked and cannot be changed:

Locked fieldReason
Customer attributeChanging the tracked metric would invalidate existing progress.
Expiration policyChanging expiry after customers have won would cause inconsistencies.
Challenge level / thresholdChanging the goal mid-campaign is unfair to participating customers. On progressive challenges, the full level set (count, names, and thresholds) stays locked once customers are participating.
Prizes on levelsChanging prizes mid-campaign would change what already-progressing customers expect to receive.
Enrollment limitsCannot reduce the cap after customers have already enrolled.

All other fields (name, description, image, dates, countries, status) remain editable even when the challenge is active.

tip

Click Save at the bottom of the form to apply your changes. The updated challenge will reflect immediately in the challenge list.

note

You can clone a challenge from the Challenges list. The clone is created with status Disabled and the name prefix CLONE-, so you can adjust levels and prizes before enabling it.

Deleting a Challenge

Go to Gamified Campaigns β†’ Challenges, then click the Delete Challenge button on the left side of the row.

Deletion rules by challenge state

Challenge not yet active (no participants yet)

The challenge can be deleted freely.

Challenge already active (customers participating)

Deletion is not available β€” the button is disabled to prevent data loss. Instead, deactivate the challenge:

  1. Click Edit Challenge.
  2. Set Status to Disabled.
  3. Save.

A disabled challenge will not appear in the challenge catalogue and no customer will be able to win it, but historical data is preserved.

note

A disabled challenge is different from an expired challenge. Disabling hides the challenge immediately regardless of its availability dates. The data remains queryable for reporting.
