Promotions
Promotions are general, mass discounts applied at the product, category, or cart level. Unlike coupons β which are targeted and require a customer to present a voucher β promotions apply automatically to all customers purchasing the eligible product or cart value. They are configured in Company Data and referenced by the promotional engine at checkout.
Promotions vs. Couponsβ
| Promotion | Coupon | |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | All customers | Specific customers (segmented) |
| Voucher required | No | Yes |
| Stacking | Configurable (accumulative flag) | Configurable |
| Affectation | Cart, product category, or specific product | Cart, product category, or specific product |
tip
Use promotions for mass, time-limited offers (e.g., "10% off all beverages this weekend"). Use coupons when the discount should be personalized or limited to a specific customer segment.
What You Can Doβ
| Capability | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Apply a flat or percentage discount at cart, category, or product level | Flexible discount targeting without customer segmentation |
| Set availability date windows | Time-box promotions to specific periods |
| Scope promotions to specific stores or store categories | Run location-specific offers |
| Configure accumulation rules | Control whether promotions stack with coupons or other promotions |
| Set minimum/maximum purchase amounts and unit limits | Restrict the promotion to meaningful cart sizes |
